Neveen Allouba

Soprano

Nevine Allouba is an Opera singer with a vast repertoire from Handel to Menotti, not excluding a vast variety of Lieder, Oratorios, Vocal Chamber Works and all Egyptian Lyric compositions for female voice, she is one of Egypt’s main Opera singers, performing highly coveted roles locally and internationally.

Began her music studies at the age of eight with Olga Yassa the prominent Egyptian Piano Professor. Graduated from the Cairo Conservatoire, Piano Department with honors and received scholarships from the DAAD (West German Cultural Exchange) and the Friedrich Naumann Stiftung which enabled her to study Opera Performance and Vocal Pedagogy at the Hannover Hochschule fur Music and Theater, where she obtained her Doctorate in 1988. She was soloist at the Detmold Opera House in Germany and has performed since in most west European capitals and Arab countries, to move later on to the Cairo Opera House as a Soprano Soloist, member of the Cairo Opera Company. She was the first female voice to sing at the opening of New Cairo Opera House.

Currently Staff member of the Cairo Conservatoire, Academy of Arts, member of the Cairo Opera Company Artistic Bureau, Founder of the Singing Department of the College for Specified Studies, University of Alexandria, and Adjunct Professor of Voice at the American University in Cairo and has given many vocal workshops for prestigious Egyptian organizations i.e. the “Warsha” theater company and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Independent Theater Forum.

Member of various National and International Jury Panels, including: The Annual Cairo International Singing Competition of (Fidov), The Deutsche Jugend Musiziert Wettbewerb, The Fullbright Scholarship Panel, The Egyptian Supreme Council Opera Competition, The National Jazz Competition of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the renown Lebanese Television Competition “ Sot El Fann” and lately the “Sing Egyptian Women” Competition. She is a frequent guest on Radio and Television programs.
Performed live and recorded the world premieres of “Le Nozze Di Figaro” and “Don Giovanni” Arabic Productions, also sang the Premiere’s of Egypttian Composer Sherif Mohie ElDin’s “Opera Miramar” and “Three Operas in One Hour” .
Participated in the translation and adaptation of several Music Theater Operas and Plays to the Egyptian colloquial language i.e. B. Brecht’s “Three Penny Opera “ and W. A. Mozart’s “ The Magic Flute”, of which she was also Executive Producer.
Co-founder of the Akhenaten Chamber Opera in the ‘90’s, and is currently founding “FABRICA” for the Development of Egyptian Contemporary Music Theatre.
