Aix-en-Provence Art Hight School & Alexandria Faculty of Fine arts cooperation

In the frame of LABOFICTIONS, Mediterranean video network, The Ecole Supérieure d’Art d’Aix-en-Provence (Esaaix) and the University of Alexandria, Faculty of Fine arts, have built strong cooperation links for more than three years.
In order to strengthen their artistic, learning and research projects, the two institutions now decide to enter into a formal cooperation agreement.
From 10th to 16th November , ESAAix has welcomed to Aix-en-Provence Dr Professor Hisham Saoudi, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Prof. Hadil Nazmy, artist and fine arts teacher. Their visit to Aix will also allow a wide range of visits at the regional level with the numerous artistic, scientific and institutional partners of ESAAix ( art schools, MUCEM..)
The organization of the visit is supported by French Institute in Cairo and Transverscité / RAMI.
The official signature of the agreement took place on Wednesday 13th November at ARCADE Aix-en-Provence (Regional agency for arts and culture), followed by the opening of the LABOFICTIONS video exhibition same place.

Steps of cooperation between Aix and Alexandria :
2011/2012 : Exchange study programme/residency and exhibition of Samar Elbarawy
2012/2013 : Exchange study programme/residency and exhibition of Nada Rezq
April 2013 : Labofictions video workshop at Fine Arts Faculty Alexandria with students and teachers from both schools. Fist video art festival in Alexandria (Instants Videos/ Bibliotheca Alexandria)
July 2013 : LABOFICTIONS VIDEO SUMMER CAMP, mediterranean video workshop in Aix-en-Provence, including students and teachers from Alexandria ( Campus / Marseille-Provence European Capital of Culture)
2013/2014 : Exchange study programme/residency of Samar Baiomy
Diffusion of LABOFICTIONS video works and edition of a DVD tracing back the three past years of collaborations and works by artists, students and teachers of the network.
