Moufida FEDHILA

artist, filmmaker, performer

Moufida Fedhila is born in Tunisia. Lives and works in Paris and in Tunis.
She graduated from the École Européenne Supérieure d’Art de Bretagne. Moufida studied philosophy at the Sorbonne University and theater at the University of Caen before moving to Paris to be trained in film directing.

She practices as well drawing, painting, cinema, photography, poetry as sound, installation and performance. A wide pallet of media which is in adequacy with her conception of the world and life : plural, complex, anti-conformist and de-compartmentalized.
Moufida Fedhila creates bond between the places and the persons with whom she dialogues. Her works deconstruct, de-compartmentalize and transgress with subtlety the standards and the taboos. She hustles the paradoxes, the ideologies and the dogmas which govern our worlds.
She is interested especially in the question of the limit by working the concepts of displacement, seclusion, border and memory.
Her works function by destabilization and collision, involving the participation and the presence of the artist and the spectator, supplied with political, social and cultural elements and examine the tension between politics and poetics.
They were shown in many Centers of Contemporary art, in Europe and in the Arab world and had her first solo exhibition in Italy.
In parallel, she teaches the visual arts and collaborates as a curator on several exhibitions projects. Then she integrates the experimental Group of sound and realizes experimental films, selected in several festivals.
Moufida has co-writing the medium-length film of fiction “Li-La” and develops her feature film “Three seasons” between Paris, Tunis and Berlin.
