Pierre PALIARD

Pierre Paliard is a professor of History of Art in École Supérieure d’Art d’Aix-en-Provence, art historian and critic. His publications include L’ordre domestique, mémoire rurale dans les arts plastiques contemporains en Europe, (The domestic order, memory of rurality in the contemporary visual arts in Europe), Paris, L’Harmattan, coll. Arts et Sciences de l’Art, 2006. His writings and public interventions have focused in recent years on new approaches of art marked by a concern for ecology. It also works on the diagrammatic aspects of contemporary expressions; Une modernité diagrammatique, (A diagrammatic modernity) revue Roven, revue critique sur le dessin contemporain, n°8 automne-hiver, 2012-2013.

His interest in the cultures of the Far East led in 2004 and 2007 in Vietnam. The questions posed by the current production of Vietnamese art led him to wonder about its history and its relations with Western modernity. He have recently published the book Un art vietnamien ; penser d’autres modernités. Le projet de Victor Tardieu pour l’Ecole des Beaux-Arts de l’Indochine à Hanoï en 1924, (A vietnamese Art ; Victor Tardieu’s Project for the Fine Art School of Indochina in Hanoi in 1924) Paris, L’Harmattan, 2014.
