TransDance

Haraka collective

TransDance is an Egyptian international festival for contemporary dance, choreography and performance. It is set within a transdisciplinary context and invites artists questioning about the mobility of their practices and their media, to work with ‘physical documents’ as a point of departure and a driving force.
TransDance is an initiative of HaRaKa (Cairo), and celebrates this year its fifth edition through its largest program since the festival’s inception, taking place over three months, and across three continents. The fifth edition of the festival invites artists who think of the body, its movement and presence as sites of documentation, and as generators of political discourse.

The program hosts an international program of performances, talks, discussion, films, workshops, panels, artists interviews, and installations.
The fifth edition hosts performances from Mariam Sadik (Egypt/ US), Lilibeth Cuenca (Philippines/ Denmark), Sofia Balogh (Hungary), videos by visual artists including Doa Aly (Egypt), Deborah Stokes (UK), public space performances including work by Peter Stamer (Germany), open studios with leading choreographers such as Karima Mansour (Egypt), and more.
